Drive health, disable spindown on external drives, esp WD

spin wdI have a 4 TB WD Elements desktop external drive. I think this drive is set to pose downspin down after a period of non-use, correct? If so, is it possible to turn off that capability?How to troubleshoot a WD External Drive that doesn't spin, isn't recognized, or clicks when connected.
